The health care industry encompasses an enormous arena of work and career opportunities. Education and training, especially 'hands-on" training, are essential, beneficial and necessary for the development of confident and dedicated health care professionals.

The Health Council maintains strong professional affiliations with medical, dental and educational institutions, in order to provide students, interns, and residents with genuine, on-site training.

The Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine rotates students and interns, through the clinics to provide them experience in the practice of medicine and to initiate learning about real-life patiephnt issues.

Nursing students from the University of Missouri in Columbia and from the Truman State University in Kirksville supplement classroom education with outstanding, patient-based instruction in Health Council clinics.

Dental students from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, participate in rotations through the Council's dental program, providing them with experience in the treatment of an underserved population in a rural setting.
